The couple’s worst fears had come true when they received the dreaded call informing them that Hanz had escaped from the kennel while they were away. Panic and heartache set in as they learned their furry friend had been on the run for over a week, prompting them to embark on a frantic mission to bring him home safely.

Upon their return to Connecticut, Michaela and Adam sprang into action, scouring every neighborhood, distributing missing dog fliers, and setting humane traps in the hopes of luring Hanz back. Their tireless efforts were bolstered by the invaluable assistance of the kennel staff and the Connecticut Dog Gone Recovery Volunteer Network, who joined forces to aid in the search.

Describing Hanz as the “sweetest dog in the entire world,” the couple’s longing for their beloved pet was palpable. “His favorite thing to do is put his head on us and snug us,” Michaela reminisced, her voice tinged with emotion.

Hanz is Finally Found!

After an agonizing week and a half of searching, their perseverance finally paid off. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a tantalizing combination of bacon, chicken, and stinky socks proved irresistible to Hanz, luring him into a carefully set trap in the woods near their home.

The joyous reunion was a moment of pure elation for the newlyweds, who consider Hanz an integral part of their lives. “We do everything with him. It’s great to have him back because he’s really part of us,” Adam expressed, his relief evident.

Michaela and Adam are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support they received from their community during their ordeal.

“Thank you so much to everyone in Glastonbury for checking your cameras, sharing all of your sightings, hanging up posters, driving around with eyes peeled as well as all of your prayers, love and support these past 10 days,” Michaela said, her gratitude echoing the sentiment of a community united in their efforts.

As the couple basks in the warmth of their reunion with Hanz, their story serves as a heartwarming reminder of the unbreakable bonds we share with our beloved pets and the power of perseverance and community in times of adversity.
